Brown v. Board of Education 50th Anniversary Presidential Commission
On September 18, 2001, Public Law 107-41 established the Brown v. Board of Education 50th Anniversary Commission for the purpose of encouraging and commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Brown v. Board of Education.

The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. (LDF) was founded in 1940 under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall. Although LDF’s primary purpose was to provide legal assistance to poor African Americans, over the years its work has expanded to advocate the right of equal justice to every American. It has much information at its website, including a chronology of its work relating to Brown.
